In New York...concrete jungle where dreams are made of

John is moving away. John has never been more than 30 mins. away from me for the past almost 10 years. We have been inseparable for that many years and all of that is about to change. We graduated high school together. Went to colleges right down the road from each other. We graduated from college and now John is moving to New York City to live out his dream. This.is.scary.

We got together tonight to catch up on life and see what the next step is for both of us (at Panera Bread, yumm-o!) We knew eventually this would happen- one of us would move away, but the reality of it is a lot more powerful than just the thought of it happening. New York City is less than 4 hours from Cortland, but for some reason it is a very scary thought. We have an incredible friendship and the thought of that changing is not what scares me. What scares me is how much our lives are changing and the fact that even 30 mins. away we had to set up special times to get together because we both live very crazy, hectic lives. What's it going to be like when we have to schedule to get together now? John joked, "I'll see you at Thanksgiving" but what if that's true? Sigh. Growing up is hard!

I left my girlfriends in May after graduating and we have managed to keep in touch without a problem. But something scares me about the fact that John has been here for almost 10 years...just down the road. He knows me better than almost anyone and boy do I like to vent to him when I've had a rough day. Thankfully our phones still work, so that's not an issue, but sometimes I just need to take a long walk with my friend and that is just not going to be an option anymore. Boo! After all we've been through, I know we'll stay John and Amber forever, but reality has stepped in to remind us that it has a plan too! No matter what, Johnny C will be my babycakes forever and I'm proud of the person he has become. I can't wait to see his name in bright lights.

To a new beginning... <3 id="gwProxy" type="hidden">
